INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — North Carolina continues exhibition play Sunday against Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with tip set for 5 p.m. and a B1G+ stream carrying the game.
The Tar Heels are 1-0 in preseason after beating Southern California 88-70 on Oct. 9 in Greensboro. Carolina hosts Charlotte on Oct. 27 at the Dean E. Smith Center, then opens the regular season Nov. 2 at home against Western Carolina.
Indiana opened its exhibitions with a 96-68 win over Butler on Oct. 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Hoosiers lead the all-time series with Carolina 10-6 and last beat the Tar Heels 77-65 in Bloomington on Nov. 30, 2022, in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Sunday marks Carolina’s first Indianapolis appearance since facing Florida in the 2000 national semifinal. First-year coach Michael Malone is in his debut season after two dozen NBA seasons, a dozen of them as a head coach, following his April hiring as UNC’s 21st coach.
Indiana’s recap of the Butler win already pointed ahead to the North Carolina exhibition at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, framing it as the next test in a three-game preseason slate.
Fans in both states will treat the afternoon as an early look at how Malone’s roster shares the ball and how Indiana’s rebuilt group handles a Power conference visitor on a neutral floor.
Ticket windows and streaming links were promoted by both athletic departments through the weekend, underscoring how seriously the clubs are treating a mid-October dress rehearsal before November tip-offs across campus arenas statewide and beyond the Midwest next month.
