Leadership OBX Now Accepting Applications for 2024-2025 Program
May 13, 2024 – Outer Banks, North Carolina: The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce has begun accepting applications for its Leadership OBX Program for the 2024-2025 session. Initially launched in 2014, the Leadership OBX program seeks to foster a group of professional leaders with a deep understanding of the Outer Banks region, and who are equipped to take up volunteer leadership roles in various boards and organizations across the region.
The Outer Banks Hospital has returned for another year as the Platinum Title Sponsor for the program, reflecting their commitment to enhancing the community’s leadership capacity.
Karen Brown, Chamber President & CEO, explained that the Leadership OBX program is set up to enhance the abilities of current and future leaders of the Outer Banks community. “It offers a platform to enrich and engage participants and deepen their understanding of the community,” said Brown.
The Program Details
The Leadership OBX program, running from late October 2024 through mid-April 2025, includes a welcome reception, a symposium (scheduled over a Sunday/Monday), and ten full-day sessions scheduled every 2-3 weeks on Wednesdays.
The program covers a range of topics including Economic Development, Healthcare, Government, Public Safety, Social Issues, Education, Environment, Tourism and more, with each session focusing on a different aspect of the Outer Banks region.
Leadership OBX aims to foster closer ties between its participants, enabling them to build deep professional connections and friendships. It also aids in understanding the community’s trends, resources, challenges, and successes.
The full tuition fee for the program is $600, which includes all session expenses, retreats, and receptions. Due to generous offerings of the OBX sponsors, a limited number of partial scholarships are available for those who qualify.
How to Apply
Applications are considered for a scholarship if the applicant is an employee of a Chamber member business with less than ten employees or a local non-profit organization.
The deadline for applications is September 13, 2024. Applications are available online at the Outer Banks Chamber’s official website.
Leadership OBX is a significant platform for those who are willing to take up a leadership role in the Outer Banks region. It sharpens their knowledge about the region and equips them with the necessary skills to lead.
With many positive reviews on its success and effective approach, the program continues to grow each year. The future leaders of Outer Banks are encouraged to submit their applications, taking this opportunity to be a part of the community’s leadership development program.
