In her attempt to pass, Phillips’ vehicle collided head-on with a Toyota SUV driven by Callie Ann Coltrain Coward of Ayden, North Carolina. Unfortunately, Coward was pronounced dead at the scene due to the impact of the collision. Following the accident, Tiffany Phillips was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for medical attention.

Alongside Phillips in her vehicle was 40-year-old passenger Josiah Myer, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Myer was also transported by air, taken to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment. An 8-month-old girl, who was present in Phillips’ vehicle during the crash, fortunately, remained uninjured and was subsequently taken to The Outer Banks Hospital for evaluation.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, which is currently being led by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. As a result of the investigation, Tiffany Phillips has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and reckless driving.
