Kill Devil Hills to Celebrate Fire Department and EMS Station Launch
Marking a significant milestone in public safety and service, the Town of Kill Devil Hills, in partnership with Dare County, announces a ribbon cutting ceremony and public open house event for the William E. Gard Fire Department Station 14 and Dare County EMS Station 1. The dual event will commence at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, and promises to bring together members of the community for a day of celebration, discovery, and learning.
Open House Event Features
An open house will follow the ribbon-cutting ceremony and will run until 7 p.m., offering locals the opportunity to undertake self-guided tours of the new establishments. The Fire Department Station 14 is situated at 1630 N. Croatan Highway and the Dare County EMS Station is located at 1628 N. Croatan Highway; both located in the bustling heart of Kill Devil Hills.
Apart from the guided tours, visitors can also look forward to a plethora of activities and displays, laid out to provide a well-rounded insight into the workings of these community keystones. Highlights include fire apparatus and ambulance displays, blood pressure checks, and critical lifesaving training such as “Stop the Bleed” and “Hands Only” CPR. Special handouts, children’s activities, and light refreshments will also be available, all courtesy of the dedicated personnel from Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and Dare County EMS.
A Much-Needed Infrastructure Update
The Fire Department Station 14 holds a critical role in serving one of the busiest sectors within Outer Banks, making this new establishment a top priority. Cognizant of the importance of rapid response to emergency situations, this upgrade marks a significant step to meet the high demand for efficient and effective public service in the area. The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted back on May 10, 2023, setting in motion the construction process, which is slated for completion this month.
Obsolete infrastructure makes way for a state-of-the-art facility, outfitted to better serve the residents and visitors within the community. The new establishments come equipped with modernized features and mean an increase in capacity to cater to the ever-growing needs of the town, ensuring safety is never compromised.
This special occasion embodies the values of community involvement, public service, safety, and most explicitly, progress. All interested community members are encouraged to step out and join in this eventful celebration that credits and commemorates the relentless service and contributions of the William E. Gard Fire Department and Dare County EMS.
