Born on May 24, 1955, in Bayshore, NY, John was the son of Ronald J. Nevin and Florence C. (Mackenzie) Nevin. He grew up with a passion for storytelling and historical narratives, often immersing himself in the world of books. His connection to nature was profound; John enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and kayaking, particularly enjoying times spent with friends and sailing expeditions alongside his best friend.
In recent years, John expanded his interests to include archaeology, volunteering on several archaeological digs that allowed him to engage deeply with his love of history. His adventurous spirit also led to travel, frequently spending quality time with family in scenic locations such as Kauai, HI, and the Outer Banks of NC. Tino and her husband Guy of New Boston, NH, Jennifer E. Barry and her husband Kevin of Amherst, MA, and Patrick J. Ellis of Temple, NH. He was a beloved great-uncle to Mackenzie Tino, Clare Tino, David Barry, Laura Barry, and Emily Barry. Additionally, he is survived by various extended family members and his longtime best friend Bill Keefe and his wife Caroline of Wilton, NH, alongside a vast network of friends.
In honor of John’s life, a funeral service will be held at Michaud Funeral Home, located at 32 Maple St. Wilton, NH, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:30 am. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home, allowing friends and family to gather and share memories. Later in the day, a burial service is scheduled for 3 pm at Mt. Calvary Cemetery on Abbot Hill Rd in Wilton, NH.
