A Life of Education and Dedication
Originally hailing from Havre De Grace, Maryland, Suzanne was the daughter of the late William and Gladys Andrews Skipper. She pursued her educational passions and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). Her career path took her into the classroom, where she dedicated many years as a beloved teacher. However, her talents didn’t stop there; Suzanne also found a place for herself in the world of real estate, assisting families in finding their perfect homes.
A Heart for Animals
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Suzanne was a true animal lover. She spent countless hours volunteering at various no-kill shelters, with a special mention of her time at Friends For Life. Her compassion didn’t just end there; Suzanne was a registered wildlife rehabilitator in North Carolina. In this role, she tirelessly worked to save thousands of orphaned and injured animals, while also offering guidance to others interested in wildlife rehabilitation.
A Loving Family
At the center of Suzanne’s world was her family. She was married to Mike Magalis for an incredible 45 years. Their enduring love story serves as an inspiration for family and friends alike. Suzanne is also survived by her sister, Debby Skipper Daniels, and her brother-in-law, Karl, who reside in Kitty Hawk, NC. In addition, her nephew Shawn Daniels also lives in Kitty Hawk, ensuring that her family continues to grow.
On Mike’s side of the family, Suzanne leaves behind Mary Beth Arce and her husband Michael from Steamboat Springs, CO, as well as Daniel Magalis and his wife Debby from East Hartford, CT. Each family member fondly remembers Suzanne for her joyful spirit and kind heart.
Celebration of Life
The community is invited to honor Suzanne’s memory on August 29, 2025, at Macon Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM for a visitation, followed by a Celebration of Life service held in the Chapel. This will be a wonderful opportunity not only to reflect on Suzanne’s life but also to share stories and remember the positive impact she had on so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Highlands/Cashiers Animal Shelter. This gesture is a beautiful way to continue Suzanne’s tireless work in animal welfare, helping to care for those who cannot care for themselves. The family expressed their deep gratitude to Annette Rogers for her compassionate care during these last years, as well as to Four Seasons Hospice for their unwavering support.
