RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina’s three ACC football programs all play conference games this weekend, with two of them taking the field on Friday night before UNC closes the slate at home on Saturday.

Duke opens the weekend at Virginia with a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday. Running back Nate Sheppard comes in leading the country in all-purpose yards per game and ranks among the national leaders in rushing and scoring.

Later Friday, NC State makes the long trip west to face Stanford, with kickoff set for 10:30 p.m. Eastern. The league has scheduled a record 15 Friday games this season, and these two push its total so far into double digits.

On Saturday, Syracuse visits Kenan Stadium to take on the Tar Heels at 7:30 p.m. It is the last conference game of the day. UNC is one of four ACC teams with more than one road win over Power Four opponents this year, and it comes off a 24-20 victory over Duke that brought the Victory Bell back to Chapel Hill. Syracuse receiver Umari Hatcher shares the national lead in catches per game.

Elsewhere on Saturday, top-ranked Miami hosts Pitt at noon and Virginia Tech visits Clemson in prime time. The state’s other FBS programs also stay busy, with App State and East Carolina each in action on Thursday night, while Campbell travels to Maine on Saturday.

The ACC has seven conference games across Friday and Saturday involving 14 teams, and with the season moving deeper into October, each result carries more weight in the league standings.

For fans across the state, it adds up to three straight nights of college football with in-state teams on the field, starting Thursday and wrapping up with the Tar Heels late Saturday.
